Children of Kadapa

The abuse of the dowry tradition has been one of the main reasons for sex-selective abortions. Female infanticide is still prevalent in many rural areas of India. Many baby girls are being dumped in wells behind clinics; the lucky ones make it alive and places such as the Aarti home.

The government school for the blind has a boys hostel that helps house unwanted blind children, educating them and feeding them.

In Kadapa, and other rural parts of India,  these homes are not only a place of refuge for the children but they also serve as beacons of hope giving them confidence to live their lives.
